APEX 2015 Juried Exhibit Awards Announced

The Student Activities Center hosted a reception for the APEX Exhibit currently on display in the Gallery at the Iowa State Memorial Union. Artwork by 24 Iowa State students representing painting, metals, photography, drawing, clay, printmaking, fibers, wood, mixed media and digital media is on display through May 3. Juror Tom Dooly announced the top pieces from 29 artworks he chose for the exhibit.

Best of Show
Anndrea Joiner, Senior in Architecture, for the mixed media painting Casual Racism

Merit
Alexis Dwyer, Graduate Student in Integrated Studio Arts, for the print Natural Bridges
Mitzi Alexander, Sophomore in Design, for the mixed media piece Identity
Reed Siems, Senior in Integrated Studio Arts, for the print Three & Then Some

Honorable Mention
Elisabeth Oeverli, Senior in Biological/Pre-Medical Illustration, for the painting Fish Still Life – Master Study
Richard Auchus, Senior in Design, for the photo triptych The Veil, The Void & Passage

APEX is a strong show of student artists going above and beyond “class projects,” to creating fine art with excellent execution and craft.

The Iowa State Memorial Union is located at 2229 Lincoln Way in Ames on the ISU campus.  The Gallery is on the 3rd floor.  For viewing times between 8am and 10pm call 515.296.6848.
