(Des Moines, Iowa) — Free to all middle and high school students, Iowa Ortho and Physiotherapy Associates are hosting a youth sports injury prevention clinic on May 13th from 5:30 to 8:30 pm at their 450 Laurel Street downtown Des Moines clinic.
All exams will include a thorough musculoskeletal examination, reassessment of old injuries and advice and information on injury prevention. Refreshments will also be served and a Hy-Vee sports nutrition booth will be set up. Please note that a parent or guardian must be present at the physical in order to provide consent. All free-will donations will be donated to participating schools’ athletic programs.
Athletes have the option of participating in a 10-minute movement efficiency test through a program called Fusionetics. After the test has been conducted, each individual will receive a personalized exercise program that will help correct imbalances in flexibility, movement and strength between the right and left sides of the body. This quick and simple program enables athletes to increase their speed and power while decreasing their risk of injury. The cost of this test is $10.
Please register for this free physicals event by May 1 to Allison Klapperich of Physiotherapy Associates at 323-6485.
