Member engagement

Posted February 11, 2015 in Community Featured, Des Moines West

The Des Moines West Side Chamber board had an engaging and spirited planning meeting in January to discern our goals for 2015.  What did we walk away with?  Probably more questions than answers.

But, the board was very clear on one thing – with our significant increase in membership we will focus on continued member engagement.  We want to build on the stability of our increased membership, find creative ways for members to be involved in the chamber and the Greater Des Moines Partnership, and increase our public presence, advocacy, education and networking.  The board will continue its goal setting in February with the intent of presenting 2015 goals at our chamber’s Victory Celebration on February 10.

In November 2014, the chamber members elected three new directors:  Kelly Crosby of Gateway Market & Catering, Cari Wilson of Cornerstone Credit Union, and Tabby Hinderaker of the Purposeful Growth Coach.  We are grateful for their willingness to serve and we welcome their energy and creativity.  Todd Richman was reelected to a second term as director who brings a long time connection to the Ingersoll Business District.

In addition, the board approved with acclamation a 2-year contract with Dave and Carolyn Nagel as our co-directors.   Dave and Carolyn have infused energy and direction to our chamber.  The chamber is grateful for their service which they offer so willingly with humility.

Lastly, in January we held our first new member orientation luncheon for the year with a great turn out at First Christian Church, with food catered by Woody’s Smoke Shack.  Our thanks to Christina Anderson, membership chair, for putting together an engaging program.

We hope to see many of you at our upcoming chamber events in 2015.
