DES MOINES, IA – Minnesota Wild General Manager Chuck Fletcher on Sunday announced the National Hockey League (NHL) club has recalled goaltender Darcy Kuemper from the Iowa Wild of the American Hockey League (AHL). Iowa Wild General Manager Jim Mill announced the club has recalled goalie Johan Gustafsson from Alaska, Iowa’s ECHL affiliate.
Kuemper, 24 (5/5/90), is 13-12-2 with a 2.62 goals-against average (GAA), a .904 save percentage (SV%) and three shutouts in 29 games with Minnesota this season. He went 2-3-0 with a 3.22 GAA, a .891 SV% and one shutout in five starts with Iowa after being assigned on Jan. 26 for a conditioning assignment. The 6-foot-4, 205-pound native of Saskatoon, Sask., is 26-22-6 with a 2.49 GAA, a .910 SV% and five shutouts in 61 career NHL games with the Wild.
Gustafsson, returns from Alaska, where he posted a 4-1-0 record with a 2.96 GAA and an .899 SV%. The second-year pro is Iowa’s all-time goaltending leader for games played (66), wins, minutes played (3,669) and saves (1,737). He is 19-37-4 in two seasons with Iowa, posting a 3.14 GAA and a .900 SV %. This season, the Koping, Sweden native is 7-16-1 with a 3.39 GAA and a .896 SV% with Iowa. Gustafsson was drafted by the Minnesota Wild in the sixth round (#159 overall) of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.
Iowa concludes a four-game road trip with a stop in Hamilton on Tuesday, Feb. 10 at 6:30 p.m. (CT). The Wild returns home at 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 13 to face the Texas Stars, the start of a three-game home stand. Before Friday’s game, the Wild is holding a Career Fair from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Admission to the Career Fair is free, and any participants taking part in the fair receives a free ticket to Friday’s game. On Saturday Feb. 14, Iowa hosts Texas and is celebrating Pink in The Rink. The first 7,500 fans at Saturday’s game receive a pink LED light, presented by Susan G. Komen of Iowa and 1700 The Champ. As part of Pink In The Rink, Iowa dons pink-in-the-rink themed specialty jerseys. After the game, the team is holding a live postgame jersey auction, with the proceeds benefitting Susan G. Iowa finishes its three-game home stand at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Feb.15 against the Oklahoma City Barons. Sunday’s game is Crash’s birthday party, where the team celebrates with a superhero and mascot party. Numerous local mascots and super heroes will be on hand to help ring in Crash’s big day. The first 1,500 fans at Sunday’s game will receive an Iowa Wild insulated lunch bag, sponsored by Star 102.5.
