Joe believed in hard work and caring for his family. He never hesitated to help anyone who needed anything. Joe thoroughly enjoyed life and some of his antics are legendary. His story telling was always entertaining. Joe loved to garden in the summer and spent many hours in the winter cracking walnuts. He lived his life to the fullest every day and made a difference in so many lives. Joe worked at Firestone in Des Moines for 35 years.
Surviving are his wife of 63 years, C. Yvonne “Duck”, three sons Randy (Julie), Jay (Shelley), Kris (Denise); six grandchildren; Erin (Nicholas) Topp, Nicholas Magnani, Tony Magnani, Shelby Magnani, J. Scott Magnani, Riley Rath; two great-grandchildren, five brothers, and three sisters. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, six sisters, and one brother.
Visitation is from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, February 9 and service is at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Iles Sundberg-Kirkpatrick Chapel in Madrid with burial to follow at Hillsdale Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Mary Greeley Hospice in Ames. Online condolences may be left at ilescares.com.
