Dan was born in Chambersburg, PA and moved to Iowa and served in the US Army. He met and married Donna Mylan and they made their home in the Dallas Center area where they raised their five children. Dan owned and operated Meyers Electric for 16 years, was a school bus driver for ten years for the Dallas Center-Grimes School District, worked for Spurgeon Manor in Dallas Center and later retired from Payless Cashways. He enjoyed tinkering with machinery, gardening and tending his apple trees, but his passion was time spent with his family.
Dan is survived by his children Michael Meyers, Richard Meyers, and Melanie (Rick) Enterline all of Dallas Center, Luann (Gary) Paglia and Nancy (Barry) Hagelberg, both of Minburn; eleven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; his sister, Mildred Eller, and five brothers, Reuben, Thomas, Martin, John, and David. He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna, parents, sister, Janet Gayman and brothers, Robert and Roy; and three grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 2 – 4 p.m. Sunday at Iles-Brandt Chapel in Dallas Center. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project. Online condolences will be welcomed at IlesCares.com.
