Q: Is there a better way to take control of pain?

Posted February 04, 2015 in Advice Column, Johnston

A: What if I told you there is a product that can reliably assess your pain, teach you how to treat it, then teach you how to prevent it?  Skeptical?  Well you should be!  The truth is, that product does exist.  It is known as the McKenzie Method or Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (MDT).

How does it work?

Through an active assessment with a trained clinician, and a detailed history, the McKenzie assessment phase becomes the new baseline for treatment. Using repeated movements or positional changes the clinician can observe how your symptoms change and use that information to create an individualized treatment plan.

You then will be prescribed specific exercises and given guidance for appropriate postures and behaviors to temporarily adopt or avoid.  This is known as the treatment phase.

By learning how to self-treat your condition and moving into the preventative phase, you can minimize the risk of recurrence and rapidly deal with symptoms if they do recur.

Who doesn’t want this type of independence?  This is a proven methodology that is backed by years of research.  It is low cost, non-invasive, and trusted by Fortune 500 companies.  For a directory of clinicians in your area or more information visit their website at:
