Jane Pepper, age 80, of Des Moines and formerly of Boone, died January 7, 2015, at the Mercy Hospice in Johnston.
Following her wishes, she has been cremated. A Memorial Mass will be held at a later date at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church near Gilbert.
Patricia Jane Pepper was born on the family farm in Boone County near Ames on June 22, 1934, the daughter of Raymond D. and Ethel (McGlynn) Pepper.
She graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Boone in 1952 and in 1955, Jane graduated from Creighton University’s St. Joseph’s School of Nursing in Omaha, Nebraska.
Jane moved to Covina, California, and worked as a nurse in the school system.
She returned to Iowa, living in the Des Moines area, and worked as a home health care nurse and also worked part time at the Bishop Drumm Health Care in Johnston. Jane retired in 1988.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Bernard and Philip, and two sisters Margaret and Betty.
Jane is survived by four brothers, Raymond G. ‘Bud’ Pepper and Bill Pepper and wife Virginia, all of Ames, Rev. J. David Pepper of Lawler, and P. Eugene Pepper and wife Jan of Boone; four sisters, Katie Jordan and husband Richard of Boone, Bernadine Kalen and husband Wendell of Lenoir City, Tennessee, Mary Jensen of Des Moines, and Joan Kerrigan and husband William of Covina, California; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Schroeder Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall is in charge of the arrangements.
