Grover Phend, age 84, formerly of Maquoketa, died January 16, 2015 at the Ogden Manor in Ogden.
He has been cremated and burial of his cremains will be in the Jefferson City Cemetery in Jefferson at a later date.
Grover Edwin Phend was born in Nappanee, Indiana on September 13, 1930, the son of Waldo and Dorothy (Myers) Phend.
Grover graduated from Jefferson High School in Jefferson. He worked at various jobs and most noted as a gamekeeper for an African zoo.
He enjoyed antiques, animals, old cars, and collecting anything pertaining to clowns.
Grover was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, and three sisters.
He is survived by numerous children including Lonnie Ray and husband Paul of Boone; a brother, several sisters, and numerous grand and great grandchildren.
Schroeder Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall was in charge of the arrangements.
