John J. DeMarco

Mass of Christian burial will be held 10:30 am, Monday, February 2, 2015 at St. Augustin Catholic Church in Des Moines, with a visitation from 9:00 am until service time. Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery.

John graduated from Dowling High School and served four years in the Navy. He returned home and graduated from Drake University. He and his wife, Betty, moved to Washington, D.C. where he completed his studies at Georgetown University Dental School. Again returning to Des Moines, Dr. DeMarco practiced dentistry for nearly forty years. He had been retired for the last 15 years.

John loved life. He loved his family and he loved his friends as if they were family. He often times recounted that if he were to die tomorrow, he couldn’t have had a better life.

John is survived by his son, Dr. Joseph (Susan) DeMarco, and his grandchildren, Tess and Spencer. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Frank, Jr. and Lou DeMarco; daughter, Suzette; and wife, Betty DeMarco. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to St. Augustin Catholic Church or Christ the King Catholic Church.
