A: Lower back pain can have a complex presentation, with multiple pain generators. Not all pain is due to a disc herniation or bulge. Sometimes the problem is with one of the many joints within the back. Sacroiliac joint pain, zygapophyseal (or facet) pain are relatively common especially with aging. Treatment may include not only injections, but also physical therapy, smoking cessation, diet and lifestyle modification, and medical management.
Myofascial pain can be complicated. Treatment is also another service we provide, dealing with symptoms of not only muscle pain, but also may be the trigger for some headaches. Treatment can include trigger point injections, and guidance on additional treatment modalities.
