URBANDALE INDOOR POOL TO HOST FIRST B.Y.O.B RACE

Urbandale, IA – January 20, 2015 – The Urbandale Indoor Pool, 7201 Aurora Avenue, will host the first B.Y.O.B (Bring Your Own Boat) Race on Saturday, February 28, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.  Admission is free.  The event is being sponsored by Merle Hay Mall and the Urbandale Community Action Network.

The BYOB Race challenges local clubs, organizations, youth groups and individuals to build a boat entirely out of cardboard and duct tape (no markers, paint or glue) and race up and down the length of the Urbandale Indoor Pool (60 yards). 

Prizes will be awarded in five different age groups for speed and creativity.  Age groups for both individuals and groups (3 or more in the boat) include 8 years and younger, 9-11 years, 12 -15 years, 16-18 years, and adults.

The indoor Urbandale Public Swimming Pool is open daily and is available for rent for private events and birthday parties. Swim lessons, fitness classes and season passes are offered year-round.
