Anna Larson, age 80, of 129 West 7th Street, died January 16, 2015, at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames.
Funeral services are Wednesday, January 21, 2015, at 11 a.m. at the Schroeder Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall with Elder Kenneth Mallas officiating. A family graveside service and burial will be in the Linwood Park Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral chapel on Wednesday from 8 a.m. to service time. The family will be present after 10 a.m. to greet friends.
Anna Marie Mallas Larson was born in Boone, on October 13, 1934, the daughter of Jack and Goldie (Coleman) Mallas.
She was the youngest of nine children and attended Lincoln Elementary School and Boone Junior High.
Before finishing high school, Anna married Robert Rosine in Nevada, Iowa.
To this union, two children were born, Gary Rosine and Vickie Rosine. Later, the couple divorced.
Several years later, she married Dale Larson on October 28, 1956, in Des Moines. To this marriage, a daughter, Lisa Larson was born.
As a teenager, she worked washing dishes and waiting tables at her dad’s restaurant, the Mallas Brothers Café.
When her children were young, she worked for Donnelley’s in Nevada for eleven years.
Later, she worked at Archway Cookies in Boone.
She loved making and decorating cakes for special events.
During the middle years of her life, she, her mother, and her mother’s husband Mac, liked going to auctions.
Annie and her husband, Dale formerly owned and operated the Adobe Lounge for several years.
Annie loved the outdoors, going mushroom hunting, fishing, hunting, and sitting on her patio watching birds.
She loved her flowers around the yard as well as her fish pond.
She enjoyed crocheting and knitting and going to the casino in Tama with her daughter Vickie.
Annie was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. Her memories will live on through those she left behind.
Annie was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Lisa Larson-Wensing, her grandson Daniel Reetz, her sister Ruby Crosman, and five brothers, Peter, Paul, Robert, John, and Jay Mallas, her mother’s husband Mac McMurry, and first husband Robert Rosine.
Survivors include her husband Dale of Boone; a son Gary Rosine of Silverthorne, Colorado, and his three children: Melissa (Tag) Rogers of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Jeremy (Jennifer) Rosine of Frederick, Colorado, and Brianna (Nick) Clossman of Washington, D.C., and six grandchildren: Kylie, Lauren, Coby, Logan, Brady, and Makenna; a daughter, Vickie Rosine of Boone; a granddaughter Carly Reetz of West Des Moines; a sister Helen Aurand of Waterloo; a brother Kenneth (Shirley) Mallas of Corning; and many other relatives.
