Born on December 10, 1919 on her family’s farm south of Coon Rapids, in an area called Tuttle’s Grove, she was the daughter of Charles and Jenny Maud (Pingrey) Cretsinger. Linette attended country school as a girl and graduated from Coon Rapids High School in 1937. Following high school she took normal teachers training and attended Drake University. She taught country school at Orange Township # 9 for a few years. She was married to her childhood sweetheart, Donald Patrick, on March 1, 1941 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Don and Linette farmed on the Patrick family farm and the Cretsinger family farm before purchasing their own farm 2 miles south of Coon Rapids. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Coon Rapids. She was also a member of P.E.O. and she was a founding member of the Needle Club. Linette enjoyed quilting, playing cards, poetry, cooking, collecting antiques, going to the Iowa State Fair, going for drives in Guthrie County and spending time with her family, most of all her grandchildren. She was a lifelong learner; always looking for new things to learn and new and different ways to do things. Linette was an avid scrap booker and kept a book on her life which she started when she was sixteen years old. Her family considered her a very lucky person and she won many things during her life including a trip to France in 1981.

Linette is survived by a son Thomas Donald Patrick and his wife Georgia of Ft. Worth, Texas; a daughter Margie Schwenk and her husband Larry of Coon Rapids; two grandchildren: Brianna Schwenk Maschman and her husband John of West Des Moines and Michael Patrick Schwenk of Coon Rapids; a sister Francis Davis of Fremont, Nebraska; a brother Frank Cretsinger of Coon Rapids and several nieces and nephews. Linette was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Leora McNicholas, two infant sons: Steven and Michael, and her husband Donald Harrison Patrick in 2014.
