Phyllis Morgan, 78, formerly of Madrid, died peacefully at home on Tuesday, January 13, 2015 surrounded by her loving companion and family. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, January 15, at Iles Sundberg-Kirkpatrick Chapel in Madrid. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 16, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery, south of Madrid.
Phyllis was born on March 1, 1936 to Frank and Juanita Blanche (Hall) Long. She was a 1954 graduate of Madrid High School. Phyllis was united in marriage to Burton Morgan on March 5, 1955. To this union, six children were born: Kenny, Rene, Sue, Deb, Joni and Doug. In 1985 after many years, Phyllis retired from the former Woodward State Hospital in Woodward. Later, she was a foster grandparent for several years. Phyllis was a long-time member of the North End Birthday Club. She enjoyed doing craft projects and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her companion, Paul Gist of Woodward; daughter-in-law, Elaine Morgan of San Bernardino, CA; four daughters, Rene (Robert) Gohn and Susan Morgan both of Madrid, Deb (Dan) Goodman of Perry, and Joni (Boun Quang) Morgan of Woodward; and one son, Doug (Jackie) Morgan of Woodward; three brothers, Larry (Sharon) Long of Madrid, Robert (Sandy) Long of Decatur and Bill (Melinda) Long of Woodward; one sister, Donna Walker of Boone; and 13 grandchildren, Amy (John) McCormick, Shannon Tiffany, Jamie (Mandy) Morgan, Jason (Ruth) Morgan, Tonya (Tim) Wadle, Michael Moranville, Ryan (Brandi) Simmer, Kristin (Tasha) Goodman, Calvin (Porsha) Goodman, Kyle (Lacey) Goodman, Heather (Walter) Morgan, Jacob (Katie) Morgan and Jared Morgan; 21 great-grandchildren, Michelle (Levi) Chupp, Brad McCormick, Kayla Tiffany, Hannah Tiffany, Logan Tiffany, Jacob Morgan, Megan Morgan, Timothy Morgan, Joshua Morgan, Noah Goodman, Sophie Goodman, Cody Goodman, Tyler Moranville, Jordan Moranville, Taylor Wadle, Tessa Wadle, Zoey Morgan, Bree Reignezzmai Simmer, Alex Morgan, Max Morgan and Finn Morgan; one great-great-grandson, Jasper Chupp; and many nieces and nephews. Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Burton Morgan; one son, Kenneth Morgan; one sister, Mary Ann McVey; two grandsons, Tyler Simmer and Kristopher Simmer; and one great-great-granddaughter, Aubrelyn Chupp.
