December 9, 2014 –Moe’s Southwest Grill®, the fast-growing restaurant franchise best known for its flavorful southwest fare, has signed a deal to bring 12 new restaurants to cities throughout Iowa, with the first slated to open in late summer of 2015.
Moe’s Franchise Partners Scott Davis, Matt Middendorp and Mike Middendorp are seasoned restaurateurs who secured the rights to Moe’s in the entire state of Iowa, and support the brands’ efforts of growth in the Western part of the U.S. Several locations are currently going through research and development as well as the negotiation process.
“Having owned and operated restaurants for a number of years throughout Iowa, I have a heart for these communities that we call home,” said Matt Middendorp. “We’re looking forward to bringing Moe’s, a fun and engaging fast-casual restaurant, to Iowa and hope we become the spot where residents, kids, families and professionals alike gather to enjoy our fresh ingredients and made-to-order meals.”
The franchisees have committed to selecting local organizations to receive 100 percent of the proceeds from a pre-opening fundraiser on a date to be determined near the grand opening of each location. They are in the process of researching local organizations and charities, and invite organizations and schools to reach out if they are interested in receiving aid.
“We can’t wait to get involved in every aspect of the neighborhoods in which we’ll be opening and give back to local schools, charities and other organizations that help those in need,” said Middendorp. “It’s important to us to do our part, and we are committed to getting involved and giving back.”
Together, Davis, Middendorp and Middendorp also own nine successful Pizza Ranch locations in Ackley, Cedar Falls, Clarion, Eldora, Ft Dodge, Marshalltown, Waverly, Bettendorf and Clinton, Iowa. The group has won a number of awards for their Pizza Ranch restaurants, most notably Franchisee of the Year in 2009. Pizza Ranch has more than 180 locations across 13 states.
“Welcome to Moe’s!” is more than a greeting; it’s a way of life for the folks who customize each meal made fresh-to-order in front of every guest. All meals, including signature menu items like the Homewrecker burrito, Close Talker salad and John Coctostan quesadilla, are served with free chips and salsa. While Moe’s is best known for its burritos packed with a choice of more than 20 fresh ingredients, the menu also features child, vegetarian, vegan and gluten-friendly options.
