Stop by the library to sign up for a ten-minute slot to read a favorite story to therapy dog Scout. Sharing stories with Scout is a fantastic way to practice reading skills and make a furry friend at the same time.

 

Fit for Life

Come hear Kathy Strottmann, Program Director of the YMCA talk on the benefits of regular exercise to your overall health. Fitting regular exercise into your daily schedule may seem difficult at first, but Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans are flexible, giving you the freedom to reach your fitness goals through different types and amounts of weekly activities. It is easier than you think!

Free Advice for Your Device

Get the lowdown on your library’s downloadables! Bring your mobile device (smartphone, tablet or e-reader) to one of our classes and get some advice and help installing the library’s apps for e-books, downloadable audiobooks and e-magazines. Classes and apps are all free. Your gadget must have basic setup done (out of the box, set up, passwords entered, charged and know the basics) as a prerequisite to this class. You will need your library card and PIN, and you may need the password for the App Store on your device. Pre-register.

 

Artsy Kids – Snow Globes and Snow Shoes

This month we have special guest Joel Van Roekel from the Parks and Recreation Department who is going to show us how to use snowshoes. Then we will be making glittering snow globes. This program is for children in 3rd through 8th grades and requires preregistration.

Come and eat some pizza as we discuss Among the Hidden by Margaret Peterson Haddix. Teens in grades 6 through 12 can find copies of the book and sign up for this program at the Information Desk.

Volunteens

Teens in 6th through 12th grades can come and volunteer their time to help out with various library projects. Please stop by the library for an application form and have it signed by a parent or guardian prior to your first meeting.

 

Crafty Readers Special – Clifford Visits the Library

Clifford the Big Red Dog is coming to the Franklin Library with his friend, Dan Wardell, from IPTV! Dan will read stories about Clifford’s adventures. Afterwards, children can meet Clifford and have their picture taken with him.

Story Times Schedule for the Franklin Avenue Library

Mondays – Preschool Story Time, 10:15 a.m.

Develop your imagination with stories, rhymes, songs, and a lot of fun!

Tuesdays – Baby Rhyme Time, 10:15 a.m.

This weekly program for babies (ages 0-18 months) and their caregivers, features rhymes, songs, and bouncing, followed by a period of free play.

Tuesdays – Crafty Readers, 4:00 p.m.

Toddler, preschool, and elementary school age readers can take part in fun craft activities.

Wednesdays – Toddler Story Time, 10:15 a.m. and 10:50 a.m.

Come share stories, fingerplays, and songs.
