The City of Altoona and the Healthy Altoona Partnership will proclaim January 5 – 11, 2015 as Healthy Altoona Week at the January 5, 2015 6:00 pm City Council Meeting.
Healthy Altoona Week is a time to recognize the efforts of many individuals, organizations and business partners contributing their time to helping Altoona become a healthy community. It is also a time to encourage other community members to join the partnership.
During Healthy Altoona Week the Healthy Altoona Partnership 2015 Change 3 Challenge will be launched. The Change 3 Challenge is a three-month initiative that encourages members of the community to pledge at looking honestly at how they spend their days and find 3 activities that will add value to their life. The areas of focus for the challenge are 1) General Well-Being, 2) Reducing Stress, 3) Eating Mindfully, 4) Connecting, and 5) Increasing Physical Activity. Each focus area has many activity ideas to choose from including “Choose Your Own”. The Healthy Altoona website at www.healthyaltoona.com has many resources and tools available to support individuals who have pledged to participate in adding value to their lives. New materials and guest articles will be posted throughout the three-month challenge. Challenge participants can also be supported and interact with other participants on the Change 3 Challenge Forum at www.facebook.com/healthyaltoonapartnership.
