It is our choices, Harry, that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities.

Each meeting also has snacks, in fact the teens made their own fudge in the December meeting. It’s fun and it’s creative. Please do join Tonja and a great group of new friends on Jan. 3. It is free and open to teens and tweens.

Introducing ZINIO’s Downloadable Magazines
The Library is pleased to announce that we have entered a consortium with other public libraries in central Iowa to provide downloadable magazines. Just look on the left side of our homepage, www.winterset.lib.ia.us , and you will find ZINIO! The magazines can be downloaded to your eReaders, laptops, and other portable devices. Browse and read articles from top news, entertainment, lifestyle and travel magazines, such as National Geographic, Us, Newsweek, Seventeen, and Cosmopolitan. Zinio magazine issues now show up on your Wednesday Wowbrary email as part of the announcement of new items cataloged in the Library each week.
Toddlers, we know you are busy, but don’t forget to bring your parents to Toddler Tuesdays for ages 0-2 on Tuesdays at 10:30 am. For preschoolers ages 3 and up, Library Story-Times are on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 10:30. The Library loves to see these little ones who are learning so rapidly in every setting. Reading is recognized as contributing to the health and well-being of every child, and pediatricians are recommending reading for their little patients. At the Library, besides meeting new friends, they are also learning to love good stories, and how to pay attention in a group setting — good preparation for Kindergarten! Parents, due to our upcoming construction project, please call the Library on the morning of our story-times to make sure that we will be holding the program.
Library Repairs – Thank you for your understanding during our messy building repairs
We are now using the Meeting Room Door for public entrance. We intend to be open as much as possible during our usual hours. Watch for signage on the sidewalks to guide you into the Library. For the most current information, please watch the Madisonian, the Library web-site www.winterset.lib.ia.us , and “friend” the Winterset Public Library on Facebook. And please do use the phone to find out if we are open. The back parking lot is blocked & that book return is closed and locked. Remember, there’s a book return in the lobby accessible from 8:00 am – 8:00 pm Monday through Thursday, and 8:00 am – 5:00 pm Friday & Saturday. And also good to remember … we are being very lenient on fines during this time when the Library is less accessible, although of course we always appreciate it if you can get your materials returned on time. There are no fines when the Library is closed.
Happy New Year to you – we are looking forward to 2015!!!
The Library will be open from 10-5:00 on Dec. 31, will be closed on New Year’s Day, and will return to regular hours on January 2 and following. We wish you a happy, healthy, and safe holiday and year.
