Marvin Deer

Marv loved life to the fullest and was known for his joking attitude. Marv enjoyed traveling with his family to Mexico for Spring Break and Branson, Missouri in the summer. His greatest accomplishments in his life were watching his two children grow up to be outstanding and successful individuals with great attitudes and an excellent work ethic. His life was devoted to his family and was always there for anyone that needed a helping hand. He became a grandpa for the first time in October and spent every minute he could snuggling and reading books to his precious Gabriella Quinn.

He was a phenomenal father, grandfather, brother, uncle, husband, and son and friend to all those he met. He is survived by his treasured wife of 31 years, Rhonda; parents Marvin (Betty) Deer; sister Betty (Frank) Backstrom; children Derek (Alicia) Deer and Melissa Deer; his perfect granddaughter Gabriella; cousin Margaret (Kevin) Eshelman; sister-in-law Carla (Bob) Alexander; and a wealth of nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents along with many family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, please direct all donations to the Marvin Deer Collegiate Scholarship Fund, 6731 NW 48th Court, Johnston, Iowa 50131.
