The Salvation Army Toyshop brings Christmas to needy children

Posted December 17, 2014 in Web Exclusives

The Salvation Army’s toy distribution program has registered nearly 3,000 children who requested and qualified for assistance to shop at our annual “Toyshop.” The event helps local children enjoy a merrier Christmas this year. Toyland gives parents the opportunity to “shop” and choose age- and gender-appropriate toys for their children’s Christmas presents. Toys have been collected through Toys for Tots, community drives and Salvation Army Angel Trees located at around the Des Moines metro. Toyland is Dec. 17-19. Families are given a day and time to attend to “shop” for their children’s toys. Toyland is one of many Christmas programs made possible by donations to The Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Campaign. To donate online, visit Volunteer bell ringers are still needed now through Dec. 24.
