Byron Reents

Byron was born June 13, 1938 in Milbank SD. He grew up farming in Twin Brooks SD before graduating from Milbank High School in 1956. Byron attended business college in Minneapolis and then worked 33 years for Deluxe Check Printers in sales and management before retiring in 1993. He then went back to his farming roots, building Reents Lawn Care and Snow Removal with his son Scott. Byron loved his outdoor work and the personal pride he took in his business made him a friend to all those he served.

Byron was a loving husband to his wife, Rose, of 46 years. Together they have shared a devotion to each other, to their 3 kids, and their 6 grand kids. In his presence there was a great sense of family and love that will be truly missed.

Byron’s memory will be cherished by his three children, Scott (Melissa) Reents, Jennifer Reents, and Tasha (Jim) Mulligan. They will miss their dad’s hugs and unconditional love. His six grandchildren, Kayla, Rylie, Brady, Jack, Taylor, and Abby, will miss their Papa. They have learned so much from his pride in his work, his commitment to doing things the right way, but most of all, the importance of family.

Byron loved Urbandale, the town he called home. He served the community as a Parks and Rec board member and as a coach, coaching several teams over many years. Friends and family will always remember Byron for his smile, big hugs, and firm hand shake.

Visitation will be Monday, December 8that Gloria Dei Lutheran Church from 5-7pm. Funeral services will be Tuesday, December 9th at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church at 11am. Memorial Contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association. Online condolences will be welcomed at
