As many are aware, the library roof is in need of replacement. The existing roof is starting to slide off, probably due to installation issues. It has gotten to a point where a segment of the roof has sheared off one of the stand pipes that stick out of the roof.
Unfortunately, the firm that installed the roof has gone out of business, so we really have no recourse but to ask our citizens to help replace the roof. This is why we have started a Raise the Roof Campaign. We are thrilled with the outcome of the fall book sale and would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to those who contributed and purchased items. We raised more than $3,000 to be used to help fund a new roof for the library. We consider this a huge success, and you should, too. Your contributions made all the difference.
The library board of trustees, library staff and city leaders have been and will continue working together to find resources to replace the roof, including grant writing. However, we still have a long way to go. We are currently in the planning stages of a few more fundraising events during the next year to continue this campaign. We will also continue to search our grant opportunities. This brings us to what you, our amazing and supportive patrons, can do to help. If you’d like to send in a donation, we’d appreciate it. You can directly donate to the city or you can donate through the library foundation. Whichever method you choose, the donation will be tax deductible. You can send these donations to Holly Sealine at the library. Also, we think the fundraising events could be quite fun, so participating in the events would also be appreciated. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.
Book sale success
Our fall Raise the Roof Book Sale was extremely successful, and we know we could not have done it without you. Look for another book sale fundraiser in the spring. We hope to offer more children’s materials at this event. And remember, we accept donations all year long.
