November 3, 1936 – August 25, 2014

Charles Pickett, 77, passed away peacefully Monday, August 25, 2014 at his home surrounded by his loving family and his faithful companion, Danny Boy. A memorial service will be held 2:30 pm Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at Iles Grandview Park Chapel where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Charles was born November 3, 1936 in Des Moines to Cecil and Thelma (Rucker) Pickett. Graduate of East High School. On February 8, 1955 he married the love of his life – Sally Lou Stout. Worked for the Iowa DOT for 34 years retiring in 2000. Charles was a Boy Scout leader and enjoyed the great outdoors, a love he shared with his family. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and visiting zoo across the United States.

Survivors include his children: Gary (Alona) of Altoona, Burle (Cindy Lou) of Urbandale, Charles, Jr. (Karen) of Urbandale, Shelley (Steve) of Thayer; grandchildren: Erica, Terry, Jr., Nick, Shannon, Stephanie, Krystal, Chelsea, Chani, Kitana; great grandchildren: Jeremiah, Isabella, Ryan, Mason, Aubrey, Emery, Brecken; siblings: Donna, Robert and Ron. Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Sally, siblings, Shirley and Sandy.
