DesMoiNTRAK, a model railroad club, is going to display and run an N-gauge train layout on Saturday, Sept. 13. All day long you are invited to view it in the community room.
Kids activities in September
After a brief hiatus in August, the kids’ activities are back in full swing in September. Storytimes are held at 10 a.m. on Thursdays, while Baby Bounce will be at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. every Monday. Family Storytime is a nice way to start the day every Wednesday at 10 a.m.
Grades 4-12 are invited to stop by and learn to play a new card game every Wednesday in September. The fun begins at 3 p.m.
Bring the kids to our family movie on Wednesday, Sept. 10 at 4 p.m. It’s “Muppets Most Wanted.” Popcorn will be provided!
How would you like some fabulous new ways to do your nails? Come to our nail art program on Wednesday, Sept. 17 at 6 p.m. It’s for grades three-six.
Pirate treasure hunt
Aaarrrgghh! Celebrate “Talk Like a Pirate Day” on Friday, Sept. 19 at 4 p.m. Complete a scavenger hunt to find a bit of treasure.
Join the Super Readers to go inside the story of Hansel and Gretel to find the answer. Join us on an adventure based on the popular TV show on Saturday, Sept. 20. Go inside the story with your friends, the Super Readers on Saturday, Sept. 20 at 2 p.m. Please pre-register.
Duct Tape Art
There must be a million ways to use duct tape. After coming to our duct tape art session on Tuesday, Sept. 23 at 6 p.m. you’ll realize there are even more. We’ll be making lanyards. It’s aimed at kids in grades three-six.
‘Fault in Our Stars’
The “Fault in Our Stars” DVD release party is coming up on Tuesday, Sept. 16 at 5 p.m. Enjoy snacks and the movie.
So you think you can sing? If you do, then come to our Wii karaoke program on Monday, Sept. 22 at 3 p.m. and give it your all.
Teen Advisory Council of Students (TACOS)
Help us choose books, create programs and work on special projects by coming to our TACOS group on Monday, Sept. 8 at 6 p.m. All teens are invited.
Get Moving for Adults
Cut Loose Fitness will lead a series of low-impact beginner/intermediate fitness classes. Your journey to physical fitness starts at 6 p.m. every Monday and Thursday during September. They will combine traditional exercise with yoga, tai chi and qi gong. Bring water, a yoga mat and a small towel. Consider bringing a three-pound weight to really up your game.
