Carol Elizabeth Cool, 77, Pleasant Hills, IA, passed away August 22, 2014. She was born November 23, 1936, in Platte, South Dakota, daughter of Wilbur (Babe) and Elizabeth (Hansen) Cool. Carol is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William Cook, her long-time love, Perry D Reed, daughters, Becky and Bonney, and granddaughter Deanne.

Carol is survived by her brother K.L. (Vicki) Cool; her loving daughters, Jacquelin (Greg) Mellerup, Barbara (Rod) Cook, and Michelle (Pat) Petrell. Also survived by loving sons, Randal (Julie), Ronald (Peggy), Bill (Julie), Dennis (Barb) and Chris Cook; grandchildren, James, Justin and Jacob Cook, Julia Vasques, Kasey and Samantha Cook; Grant and Adam Mellerup; Jonathon Cook, Dusty Meislahn; Elizabeth, Patrick and Brendan Petrell; Steve Weber, Willy, Erica, Casey Cook; Billy, Jasmine and Danika Cook, Dana Welsh, and Jennifer and Christopher Cook, Robert Hall and many great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, and loved ones.

Carol graduated from Platte High in 1954 and later attended the University of South Dakota.She proudly worked for American Airlines as a stewardess, living in Chicago. Carol also worked for the Post Office, and was one of the first five female carriers hired in Des Moines, Iowa. Later, Carol went back to work for the Army and Air Force Exchange Services (AAFES) at Ft Des Moines, Camp Dodge and surrounding bases.

She enjoyed traveling, playing cards, writing, corresponding and sharing stories with her family, classmates and acquaintances. She attended every class reunion she could, loving the times she could catch up with friends. She loved taking pictures and sharing them with everyone. Carol was an excellent cook and a passionate gardener. She was an avid Chicago Bears fan, but loved watching all local football teams. Carol will be sadly missed by all who knew her, and the sound of her voice will forever be in our hearts.
