New dates announced for 80/35 music festival

DES MOINES, Iowa (August 20, 2014) – 80/35 presented by U.S. Cellular announces the eighth annual music festival will take place on Friday and Saturday, July 10 and 11, 2015, at Western Gateway Park in downtown Des Moines. The indie and jam music festival will feature more than 40 national, regional, and local bands in a paid and free area, with music starting at 5pm on Friday and noon on Saturday and going until midnight each day. Tickets for the 2015 80/35 music festival will go on sale in March.

Music festival organizers are encouraging fans to post their suggestions for the 80/35 lineup on the official 80/35 Facebook page at or tweeting them @8035. Bands can submit to play the festival by emailing by March 1.

Individuals interested in providing input on the event or learning more about volunteer opportunities before the festival are encourage to attend the open to the public planning meetings the last Tuesday of every month at 6:00 p.m. at the Mickle Center, 1620 Pleasant Street, Des Moines. The next meeting is set for Tuesday, August 26.

80/35 has drawn an estimated 30,000 attendees annually and featured numerous acts including Cake, Conor Oberst, David Byrne & St. Vincent, Wu-Tang Clan, Death Cab for Cutie, The Avett Brothers, Girl Talk, of Montreal, The Flaming Lips, Ben Harper, The Roots, Deerhunter, Umphrey’s McGee, Dan Deacon, Grace Potter, Broken Social Scene, Yeasayer, Leftover Salmon, Black Francis, Yonder Mountain String Band, Andrew Bird, Atmosphere, Matisyahu, Titus Andronicus, and more.

80/35 is presented by U.S. Cellular and is organized by the Greater Des Moines Music Coalition (DMMC), a non-profit movement committed to building a stronger and more diverse live music economy.
