Mary Elizabeth Barsetti, 88, died Wednesday, August 20, 2014 at Trinity Center at Luther Park.

Mary Beth was born June 28, 1926 in Sterling, Colorado to Edward and Edyth (McGowan) Dermody and grew up in Denver, CO. In 1944 she married the love of her life, Faustino (Jimmy) Barsetti. After the war they moved to Des Moines, IA where together they operated Midway Art & Novelty Co., and raised four children. After her husband’s death in 1970 she worked at Principal Financial. Mary Beth was a member of Highland Park Christian Church and the Highland Park Garden Club. She was devoted to her family and recognized the best in all of them and made each one feel special. Spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren was her greatest joy. The family wishes to thank the caring staff of Trinity and Hospice for their loving support and care of Mary Beth.

Survivors include her children: Barbara (Mark) Havighurst of Des Moines, Jim (Robin) Barsetti of Bullhead City, AZ, Linda (Ron) Young of Napa, CA, Patty (Steve) Rue of Redlands, CA; sisters-in-law, Gina Barsetti of Des Moines and Jeanne Davis of Cincinnati, OH; grandchildren: Pam (John) Perkins, Jeff Havighurst, Kathy (Dan) Martens, Joe (Laura) Havighurst, Jenny (Tony) Hsu, Amy (Jay) Sparks, Jeff Young, Scott (Justine) Young, Josh (Celeste) Barsetti; great grandchildren: Nate, Jake, Katie and Nick Perkins, Grace, Will and Andrew Martens, Jack and Emma Havighurst, Ryan, Tyler, Emily and Dylan Hsu, Ashley and Cameron Sparks, Katelin and Addison Barsetti. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Faustino (Jimmy) Barsetti; brother, Dee Davis; sisters: May Clark, Gladys McCoy, Dorothy Kendall; and her great granddaughter, Anna Martens.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 on Saturday, September 6th at Highland Park Christian Church.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Center at Luther Park for their flower gardens.
