Diane Marie Frevert, 57, passed away on Thursday, August 14, 2014 at her home in Rockford, Illinois. In agreement with her wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service celebrating Diane’s life is being planned for Friday, September 26, at Faith Lutheran Church in Clive. Further arrangements are pending and a complete obituary will follow at a later date.
Diane, the oldest of four children, was born on December 15, 1956 to Donald and Joyce Frevert in Charles City, Iowa. After graduation from high school in Audubon, Iowa, Diane attended the University of Iowa where she received her degree in music therapy and education. Following college, Diane worked as a music teacher in Texas for a number of years but her desire to help people made her decide to obtain a Master’s degree in Childhood Psychology. After obtaining her Masters from Texas State University, she worked as a school psychologist in Texas and Illinois. For the past several years, she worked at a retirement community outside of Rockford, IL. Diane loved music and being involved in community theaters where she met and gained lifelong friends.
She is survived by two sisters: Karen (Randy) Nelsen and Nancy Frevert (David Solohub); brother: Charles (Regina) Frevert; nieces and nephew whom she adored: Heather, Clint, Miranda and Elizabeth Nelsen and Katherine Solohub; dear friends, Amber and Ric; as well as other friends and relatives. Diane was preceded in death by her parents.
The family has respectfully requested that any memorial contributions be made to either: Faith Lutheran Church in Clive, IA; or University of Iowa Music Program in Iowa City, IA.
