Kendall Young Library announce s that local author and columnist Arvid Huisman will discuss and sign his book, “More Country Roads,” on Thursday, Sept. 11 at 6:30 p.m. in the library meeting room. Books will be available for purchase. Please join us for what is sure to be an enjoyable evening.

Zinio eMagazines
Most library patrons are aware that the library offers eBooks to borrow for free. Did you know that we also have eMagazines available? Through our Zinio platform, we have more than 200 digital magazine subscriptions that can be downloaded for free to your computer, tablet, smartphone, etc. with a library card. Visit the library website, www.kylib.org, or come to the reference desk for more information.

Upcoming programs
Book Discussion: The library’s book club will discuss “Silver Linings Playbook” by Matthew Quick on Tuesday, Aug. 26 at noon. Books are available at the checkout desk. In September, everyone is invited to select a banned book to discuss in honor of “Banned Books” month.  All are welcome.
DIY Club: Thursday, Sept. 4 at 6 p.m. Create a handy memo board using an old frame and chicken wire.  All materials will be provided at no cost.
Adult Movie: “Draft Day” (PG-13). Tuesday, Sept. 16 at 6 p.m. Enjoy the movie on our big screen. Pop and popcorn provided.

Teen Programming
Teen Lounge returns on Monday, Aug. 25: Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 3:30-5:30 p.m. when school is in session with snacks, games, laptops and activities. All teens (grades six-12) are welcome.

Children’s programming
Toddler Time: First Wednesday of the month, beginning Sept. 3, 10:15-10:45 a.m. (2-3 years, with adult, siblings welcome)
Preschool Storytime: Tuesdays, beginning Aug. 26, 10:05-10:35 a.m. (Ages 3-5 years)
Crafty Readers: Thursdays, beginning Sept. 4, 3:45-4:45 p.m. (preK – first grade)
Science Club: Tuesdays, beginning Aug. 26, 4-5 p.m. (second – fifth grade).
Lego Fun Club: Last Tuesday of the month, beginning Aug. 26, 4-5 p.m. (ages 5 years – fifth grade).
Saturday Morning Children’s Movies are shown every Saturday from 10:30 a.m. – noon for all ages. Children younger than kindergarten should be accompanied by an adult. Aug. 23: “Old Yeller” (NR); Aug. 30: “Eragon” (PG); Sept. 6: “Little Rascals Save the Day” (PG); Sept. 13: “Legends of Oz: Dorothy’s Return” (PG); Sept. 20: “Muppets Most Wanted” (PG); Sept. 27: “Inkheart” (PG).
