A: With August also comes the start of a new school year. Whether it’s you, your children or other family members going back to school, here are some simple and healthy breakfast ideas for a family on the go.
Banana Dog — serves 1
1 to 2 tablespoons peanut butter
1 Tumaro’s Low-in-Carb wrap • 1 banana
Spread peanut butter on the wrap, place banana in the middle and fold. Enjoy with a cup of skim milk.
Wafflewiches – serves 1
1 tablespoon peanut butter
2 whole grain Kashi frozen waffles
1 peach, sliced • 1 tablespoon reduced-sugar raspberry preserves
Spread peanut butter on top of one waffle. Top with peach slices. Spread raspberry preserves on the other waffle and place on top to make a sandwich. Enjoy with a cup of skim milk.
Fruit and Yogurt Cone – serves 1
1 ice cream cone
1 cup cut-up fresh fruit, such as strawberries, blueberries, peaches, kiwi
6 ounces nonfat Greek vanilla yogurt • 1 tablespoon sliced almonds
In an ice cream cone, layer fruit and yogurt. Top your cone with the rest of the fruit and sliced almonds.
