Darlene Rosenhauer, age 85, of Boone and the Eastern Star Masonic Home, died July 23, 2014, at the Home.
She has been cremated and Memorial Services and burial in the Mount Calvary Cemetery in Grand Junction will be at a later date.
Darlene Bernadine Rosenhauer was born in Arcadia, Iowa, on April 18, 1929, the daughter of Clem and Katherine (Reiff) Henkenius.
She graduated from Early High School in Early in 1948. On June 6, 1949, Darlene married Joseph Rosenhauer in Early.
She attended Buena Vista College in Storm Lake and received a teacher’s certificate. Darlene taught country school for several years.
From 1963 to 1987, Darlene worked as a clerk at Donnelly Marketing in Nevada. She retired in 1987.
Darlene was a member of the Church of the Sacred Heart and Altar Society, and the V.F.W. Post #817 Women’s Auxiliary.
She enjoyed needlework, crafts, sewing, and making quilts.
Darlene also enjoyed going to garage sales, collecting dishes, and spending time with her family.
Darlene was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a sister Doris Henkenius, her son-in-law Frank Tourtellott, and a nephew Michael Henkenius.
She is survived by three daughters, Jane Goettsch and husband Steve of Hamilton, Ohio, and Anne Stegenga and Susan Tourtellott, both of Boone; a brother Robert Henkenius and wife Angel of Carroll; three grandchildren, Amy Roden and husband Jon, Lisa Nerem and husband Neil, and Jessi Tourtellott, all of Boone; two great-grandchildren Jacob and Molly Roden, both of Boone and a third great-grandchild, ‘baby Nerem’ to be born soon.
In memory of Darlene, memorials may be directed to the family.
