Edna Meyer, age 89, of the Westhaven Community, died July 18, 2014, at Westhaven.
She has been cremated and a Memorial Service will be Wednesday, July 23, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. in the Chapel of the Westhaven Community with Chaplain Jeff McDowell officiating. Burial will be in the St. John Lutheran Cemetery, north of Lytton, Iowa.
Edna Marie Meyer was born on a farm near Lytton, on October 2, 1924, the daughter of Louis and Nettie (Block) Meyer.
She graduated from Lytton High School in 1942.
For over 30 years, Edna worked as a clerk at several grocery stores in Lytton, retiring at the age of 64.
She moved to Boone in 1999.
While in Lytton, Edna was a member of the Emanuel–St. John Lutheran Church.
In earlier years, she belonged to a bowling team and later enjoyed all types of needlework, reading, playing cards and games, traveling, and camping.
Edna also enjoyed attending the sporting events of her great nieces and nephews. Edna loved spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Helen Flock, and two brothers Raymond and Harold Meyer.
Edna is survived by two sisters, Geneva Stoneburner of Boone and LuNetta Goings of Orland, California; and numerous nieces, nephews, and great and great-great nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Chapel of the Westhaven Community on Wednesday from 9 a.m. until service time. The family will be present at the Chapel after 10 a.m.
In memory of Edna, memorials may be directed to the family.
