Greg Allen Stoelk, age 65, of Carroll, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, July 09, 2014 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, July 12, 2014 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Carroll with Pastor Brian Licht officiating. Visitation will be held at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home from 4:00 –7:00 P.M . on Friday evening. The casket will be moved to the church at 12:00 P.M. on Saturday where visitation will resume until the time of service. Music for the service will be by Sue Feilmeier and John Wagner. Casket bearers will be Mike Greteman, Ron Juergens, Ron Reimers, Don Beidler, Don Derner, Jim Streck, Tim Cole, (Ed) Butch Fasbender and Bob Thul. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll.

Born on February 09, 1949 in Carroll, Iowa, he was the son of Lawrence and Margaret (Kies) Stoelk. Greg grew up in the Arcadia – Westside area and graduated from Ar-We-Va High School in 1967. Following high school he worked at Boyer Valley Cooperative for several years. He was married to Carol Bierl on February 24, 1968 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church. Greg and Carol made their home in Carroll where they raised their family. Greg worked at Bierl’s Store of Floors and Pepsi Bottling before he went to work for United Parcel Service where he worked for 28 years. He also worked as an independent flooring installer for many years. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Carroll and the Carroll Moose Lodge. Greg enjoyed taking annual fishing trips to South Dakota, playing cards, tinkering in his shop, going for tractor rides, spending time at the farm, and being with his family and friends. Greg and Carol enjoyed taking their Corvette out for Sunday afternoon drives and they enjoyed traveling during the winters. Greg loved to talk to people and he never met a stranger. He enjoyed working hard and held a high work ethic. Greg also loved driving Mac trucks for Tiefenthaler Ag Lime in his retirement.

Greg is survived by his wife Carol L. Stoelk of Carroll; two daughters: Tami Gute and her husband Don of Carroll and Tacey Stoelk of Carroll; a son Troy Stoelk and his wife Stephanie of Carroll, Iowa; five grandchildren: Kody and Kameron Gute and Chandler, Connor, and Clare Stoelk; his mother-in-law Lois Bierl of Carroll; two brothers: Larry Stoelk of Lake View, Iowa and Mark Stoelk and his wife Joleen of Westside, Iowa; three sisters: Carol Rae Miller and her husband Ewing of Clinton, Iowa, Carletta Brown of Lake View, Iowa and Carmen Schwanz and her husband Eugene of Wall Lake, Iowa; three brothers-in-law: Kevin Bierl and his wife Margie of Scottsdale, Arizona, Randy Bierl and his wife Jane of Carroll, and Todd Bierl and his wife Jodi of Carroll; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Greg was preceded in death by his parents Lawrence and Margaret Stoelk and his father-in-law Harold Bierl.
