Reading’s still hot

Posted July 09, 2014 in Community Featured, West Des Moines

So now it’s getting really warm, and maybe some respite from that heat and humidity sounds pretty good in the month of July. Well, in the cool confines of the West Des Moines Public Library, the summer reading program is still going strong, right up to the end.

The end of the Summer Reading Program, by the way, is July 25, so if you and yours haven’t participated yet, hurry up. There are prizes at the half-way point and more at completion. Those prizes can be a real treat. Some local sponsors providing prizes are Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt, PF Chang’s, Noodles and Co., Dairy Queen, Blank Park Zoo, Warrior Lanes Bowling and others.

If you want, you can sign up on-line, just go to and click on the appropriate tab for the reading level. Follow the instructions to sign up and create a user name and password. Also, be sure to scroll to the bottom to see our complete list of sponsors. Tell them thank you in person when you give them your family’s business.

And, once again: the library is closed on Sundays during the summer until after Labor Day.
