St. Stephen Lutheran Hosts Pancakes4Pantry July 4 to Benefit Urbandale Food Pantry

Posted July 02, 2014 in Community Web Exclusives, Urbandale

Urbandale, Iowa – St. Stephen Lutheran Church will host the 7th Annual Pancakes4Pantry event July 4 from 7:30 to 10:00 AM at 3510 – 72nd Street, Urbandale.   Pancakes4Pantry is a community-wide pancake breakfast led by 100 volunteers and annually serves around 500 guests. Proceeds from Pancakes4Pantry are donated and earmarked to keep the doors open at the Urbandale Food Pantry and to pay for operating expenses.  This year’s goal is to raise $5000 for the Pantry.

“Pancakes4Pantry is a tradition among many of our guests who come first to our breakfast and then walk a block to the Urbandale 4th of July parade route”, says Jane Dieseth, Volunteer Coordinator at St. Stephen.  “Every month, the people of St. Stephen donate canned goods and other necessary items but this time of year we commit to raising dollars critical to delivering services to people who are food insecure. “

“We have been thrilled with the response from the community and expect even greater support for this great cause this year.  We really encourage our community to come out, connect with their neighbors, and give generously to the Pantry,” says Dieseth.

The Urbandale Food Pantry is a collaborative community effort to reach out to neighbors to provide food assistance with dignity and compassion.  The Urbandale Food Pantry is a 501 (c) (3) tax-exempt, non-profit organization and serves about 1000 residents of Urbandale and Windsor Heights monthly.  Learn more at
