Connie (Nelson) Patten, age 49, of 323 West 15th Street in Boone, died at Riverside North Community in Ames on June 22, 2014.

Funeral services will be Friday, June 27, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at the Schroeder Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall with Rev. Randy Schon officiating. Burial will be in Saint’s Peter & Paul Cemetery near Gilbert.

Connie Marie Patten was born in Boone On May 31, 1965, the daughter of John and Velma (Hanig) Nelson.

She was raised on a farm northwest of Gilbert in Boone County and graduated from Roland-Story High School in 1983.

In earlier years, she worked as a waitress in a Story City café. She later worked in assembly at the Carriage House in Ames and Gates Rubber in Boone.

On October 24, 1998, Connie married Robert Patten in Boone.

She enjoyed walking, reading, camping, cooking, listening to music, and spending time with family and friends.

Connie was always smiling and enjoying life.

She is preceded in death by her parents, four sisters Gloria and Laura Nelson, Beverly Prentice, and Debra Disbrowe, and two brothers Alvin and Wesley Nelson.

Connie is survived by her husband Bob of Boone; two stepsons John (Tanya) Patten of Bondurant and Jimmy Patten of Ames; a stepdaughter Amanda Pigman; a sister Sharon (Robert) Beach of Marshalltown; four brothers Daniel Nelson of State Center, Dale (Nikki) Nelson of Rhodes, Dean (Vonnie) Nelson of Ankeny, and Doug (Jesselyn) Nelson of Nevada; several step grandchildren.

Friends may call at the Schroeder Memorial Chapel on Thursday from 3 until 8 p.m. where the family will be present from 6 until 8 p.m. Visitation continues Friday from 8 a.m. until service time.

In memory of Connie, memorials may be directed to the family.
