What a great turnout for RUNorwalk. We had 288 participants, and everyone loved the new route. Jot this down now. The next RUNorwalk will be held Saturday, May 9, 2015, and we will be running/walking on the same route. Thank you to all the residents who live on the route for your patience during that hour. We hope more of our residents along the route will come out and cheer on the runners/walkers next year.
Now on to preparing for the Fourth of July long weekend. Start yours out by attending Norwalk’s Party Before the Works event on Thursday, July 3. Details are in the ad next to this article, but if you need more info, please contact the Chamber office at 981-0619. We hope to see you all there. We try to bring to our community some things for our residents to do, and this is one of them, so please support it by showing up. We are bringing back a fun kid’s zone for an hour so bring the family, and let the little ones have some fun while you listen to some tunes from Abby Normal!
July 4 in Norwalk is always a good time. The parade starts at 10 a.m. and is always enjoyable to watch. After the parade there are lots of activities going on in the Norwalk city park located next to the .ibrary. Later that evening enjoy the fireworks display at McAninch Sports Complex. I love it when the Fourth of July is on a Friday. It makes for a long. relaxing weekend with family and friends.
A reminder that also in July, Norwalk will be the host of the 2014 Home Show. This will be a huge event for Norwalk, bringing approximately 10,000 people to our town over the course of three weekends. The houses are located in the Echo Valley area, north of Beardsley and will be quite impressive. Travel on Beardsley could be conjested at times during those weekends. so please keep that in mind. The Home Builders Association will be directing traffic to park at the high school. There will be shuttle buses going back and forth on 80th Avenue.
Writing this article before Memorial Day weekend so that it will be published for the June issue makes me realize that when I write the July issue in June, summer seems to be almost over when it really has just begun. Time goes by so quickly. I hope we have a lot of nice, warm days that will last way into November so that maybe when winter comes again, it will be a short one.
Enjoy your summer. And remember to Shop Local, Shop Norwalk.
