October 17, 1942 – June 7, 2014
Juri Kaseoru was born Oct. 17, 1942, in Tartu, Estonia and immigrated to the United States, settling in Des Moines, Iowa with his mother, sister and maternal grandmother. He graduated from North High School in the top three percent of his class.
He received a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from Drake University and was a member of the golf team and the letterman’s “D” Club. He then began his graduate coursework at Iowa State Unitversity, leaving to enlist in the U.S. Army. Juri specialized in the development of computer applications for Walter Reed Army Medical Center and continued in civil service after his enlistment. He also played on the Army basketball team where they won the first two Army championships. He later became a truck driver, traveling all of North America. He enjoyed spending time outdoors and gold mining in northern California.
Mr. Kaseoru is survived by his sister, Maret Nahas; two nephews, James G. (Carey) Nahas and Ted (Heather) Nahas; a niece, Julie (Rick) Muller; and their families.
