December 6, 1945 – June 8, 2014
John E. Curry, 68, passed away peacefully the morning of June 8, 2014. John is survived and remembered by his dedicated wife, Denise; their three children, Michael, Eric and Amy; his sister, Linda; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Bert and a brother, Tim.
John was born in Marshalltown, Iowa and moved around the country before settling in Des Moines, Iowa where he spent the majority of his life. He was as hard-working as he was fun-loving. His life’s career was spent as an auto body collision repair specialist and was considered by many to be a Master Craftsman. He showed outstanding and unique proficiency in his self-taught style of carpentry. John also had an insatiable appetite for history.
John was first and foremost a family man. He was a dedicated husband and father that took an active interest in the lives of his children. He felt well-accomplished as a father, able to claim his son Michael as a Guitar Virtuoso, his son Eric as a model for fatherhood and watching Amy’s remarkable academic progress in the last year of his life. He displayed utter pride and contentment watching as his three children gave way to his three grandchildren. Dustin, Gracie and Aiden were the final pieces to make his life whole.
A Memorial and celebration of John’s life will be hosted on Thursday, June 12, 2014 at his home:1654 Milton Avenue,
