Cool Car Show to Benefit Food Bank of Iowa

Des Moines, IA – June 3, 2014 Cornerstone Community Credit Union, along with The Iowa Street Rod Association hosted an “any make, any model, any year” cool car show on May 31, 2014 at Cornerstone Community Credit Union, 414 61st St, Des Moines, IA, to benefit the Food Bank of Iowa.

42 cars participated in the car show which raised $1600 in cash donations and 257 pounds plus of non-perishable food items on the day of the car show. For every dollar that is donated, the Food Bank of Iowa is able to provide 4.5 meals to hungry Iowans.

Best Paint went to Bob L. and his 1950 Pontiac Chieftain, Best Interior was Daniel S. and his 1937 Oldsmobile. Best Preserved Pre-1972 was Clem S. for his 1969 Buick GS Convertible, Best Hot Rod went to John V. for his 1932 Ford 5 window Coupe. Best Muscle Car was awarded to Jerry K. and his 1929 Ford Roadster and voted Crowd Favorite was John and Diane Y. with their 1965 Ford mustang Coupe.

Top 10 winners are: Greg W. – 1956 Ford Crown Victoria, Quintin R. – 1958 Ford Skyliner, Bob L. – 1955 Ford Crown Victoria, Frosty H. – 1932 Ford 3 window Hi-boy, Rick B. – 1963 Ford Thunderbird, Doug Van D. – 1971 Ford Mustang, Dave B. – 1968 Chevy Camaro, Gary P. – 1972 Chevy Chevelle, Dan & Darlene R. – 1955 Chevy Bel Air, Bob & Jeanie W. – 1969 Chevy Camaro.

“We were very pleased with the generosity of everyone involved and everyone who attended this year at our first ever show,” says Stephanie Hallberg, Operations and Lending officer of Cornerstone Community Credit Union. “We wanted to make a difference in our community by partnering with the Food Bank of Iowa to help them help others,” says Dawn Reynolds, Member Service Representative of Cornerstone C.C.U.

The event included Stam’s Chocolate, Pizza Hut and the Beaded Cat with entertainment provided by Jimmy Olsen Entertainment.

A big thank you to Iowa Street Rod Association, KDSM Fox 17, Living Magazine, Yaw’s Auto Salvage, Nick’s Tenderloin, Town & Country Motors and Denny Motor, Engine Auto Parts Warehouse and Nurse Force One. Also thank you to Mike & Marsha Smith and everyone who worked so tirelessly to make this a great show.
