Mark Joseph Mondt Sr., 65, passed away peacefully Wednesday in Branson, Missouri.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 am Wednesday at Memorial Services of Iowa, in Ankeny (4208 N. Ankeny Blvd.) Burial will follow at Oralabor Cemetery.
He was born September 25, 1948 in Cerro Gordo County, Iowa to Glenn and Hazel Mondt. After graduating from Lincoln High school in Des Moines, Mark attended Iowa State University. He served in the U.S. Army for 2 years and then completed his bachelor’s degree at Oregon Tech University. He made his career in programming and administering mainframe computing systems.
Mark loved Jesus with all his heart. He was a devoted son, father and grandfather. God gifted him with many talents and an insatiable love of learning. He had knowledge of several languages and was recently taking Hebrew classes. He was skilled with the guitar, piano, and other instruments. Over the years Mark lent his efforts to several church construction projects and feeding ministries. He was generous with his time, talents and resources.
He is survived by two children: Mark Mondt II (Stacy), and Rachel Mondt, both of Wichita, Kansas and his former wife Phyllis Mondt of Boone; grandchildren Mark III, Mercy and Micah; his brother Bert Mondt (Lynn) of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and sisters Jaine Mondt, Nancy Nagla (Valdis) and Marsha Ross, all of Des Moines and Priscilla Mondt, of Fayetteville, Arkansas. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
