Lynda Paris, age 67, of 415 West Fifth Street, died May 21, 2014, at the Kavanagh House in Des Moines.
A Funeral Mass will be Tuesday, May 27, 2014, at 1 p.m. at the Church of the Sacred Heart with Rev. Randy Schon and Rev. Steve Brodersen officiating. Burial will be in the Pilot Mound Cemetery in Pilot Mound.
Lynda Lenora York Paris was born in Boone on April 15, 1947, the daughter of William and Frances (Weston) York.
She graduated from Boone High School and AIB in Des Moines.
On October 19, 1966, Lynda married Donald Edward Paris in Boone.
She worked as a computer programmer at Iowa State University, was the office manager for the former Imperial Inn in Boone, and a bookkeeper for the former Miller Oil in Boone.
Lynda owned Custom Quilting, a sewing and quilting business.
She was a member of the American Quilter’s Society.
Besides quilting, she enjoyed vegetable gardening, working on her computer, and spending time with her family especially her granddaughter Chloe.
Lynda was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Anthony.
She is survived by her husband Don of Boone; a daughter Dawn Vale and her husband Scott of Ankeny; a granddaughter Chloe Vale of Ankeny; and a brother Bill York and wife Candy of Farragut.
Friends may call at the Church of the Sacred Heart on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. where the family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m. On Tuesday, visitation continues at Schroeder Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall Streets from 9 a.m. to noon.
