The Franklin Avenue Library is holding a Friday Book Sale all day on May 9. Find hundreds of used books and more at reasonable prices. Come early for the best selection.

Furry Tales
Saturday, May 10, 11 a.m.
Visit the library to sign up for a 10-minute slot to read a favorite story to therapy dog Remmy. Sharing stories with Remmy is a fantastic way to practice reading skills and make a furry friend at the same time.

Evening Book Discussion
Tuesday, May 13, 6:30 p.m.
We will be discussing “Call the Midwife” by Jennifer Worth. Copies of the book will be available at the information desk.

Free Advice for Your Device
Saturday, May 17, 2 p.m.
Bring your mobile device (smartphone, tablet or e-reader) to get advice and help installing the library’s apps for e-books, downloadable audiobooks and e-magazines. The class and apps are all free. Your gadget must have basic setup done (out of the box, set up, passwords entered, charged and know the basics) as a prerequisite to this class. You will need your library card and PIN, and you may need the password for your App Store on your device. Pre-register.

Pizza and Pages Teen Book Discussion
Monday, May 19, 4 p.m.
Teens in sixth through 12th grade can munch on some pizza and talk about the amazing fantasy book “The City of Ember” by Jeanne DuPrau. You can find copies of the book and sign up for this program at the information desk.

The library will be closed for the observance of Memorial Day over the three-day holiday weekend.

Afternoon Book Discussion
Monday, June 2, 1 p.m.
We will be discussing “The Tulip Eater” by Antoinette Van Heugten. Copies of the book may be checked out at the information desk.

Trout Fishing 101
Tuesday, June 3, 6:30 p.m.
David Wright, and fellow members of the North Bear Chapter of Trout Unlimited will present an introductory program on fly fishing for trout in Iowa streams.

Teens Get Crafty: CD Crafts
Monday, June 9, 4 p.m.
Come to the library and turn old CDs into beautiful works of art. Please preregister for this program.

Evening Book Discussion
Monday, June 9, 6:30 p.m.
We’ll be discussing the 2014 All Iowa Reads selection “Little Wolves”by 2014 AVID author Thomas Maltman. Copies of the book will be available at the Information Desk.
