Q: Why is rehab an important part of chiropractic care?

Posted March 26, 2014 in Advice Column, Boone

A: The majority of Americans do not exercise regularly or take care of their body the way we are supposed to. Of those who do exercise, a large portion does not concentrate on strengthening their core or postural muscles properly. This leads to large imbalances and weakness in your posture and spine which predisposes for subluxation patterns do develop.

When your spine is subluxated, it stresses and damages the nerves and surrounding muscles and ligaments of your back. The purpose of those soft tissues is to provide motion and stability to your spine and body. When those muscles are not strong enough to support your spine properly, your vertebrae can become subluxated more easily and not hold their corrections well. Also, improper posture creates additional stress to your spine which increases the likelihood of subluxation. Therefore, correcting those weaknesses or imbalances can help not only prevent subluxation, but they can also help your body hold the spinal adjustments we provide for a longer time.

The most important thing to do for your health and pain relief is to get those subluxations corrected. However, when you combine rehab exercises with chiropractic care, it will help your body get better faster and stay that way for a longer time. That will help you spend less time and money in our office and more time doing the things you love without restrictions. Stop by the office today to see if chiropractic care is right for your family.
