Easter season

Posted March 26, 2014 in Community Featured, Waukee

April is the month of renewal and rebirth as spring sweeps in to cleanse the dirt and debris that accompanies winter in the Midwest. Through death, Christ destroyed our bondage to sin and through resurrection, He brought us the promise of new life, both in Heaven and on Earth.

In the Christian faith, Easter is the greatest feast and the ultimate fulfillment of faith. At St. Boniface, located at the southwest corner of University Avenue and Warrior Lane, parish members strive to live Christ-like values in their everyday life. During this season of renewal and rebirth, the parish offers a number of activities, services and Masses celebrating Easter through the Stations of the Cross and Eucharist. Upcoming April activities at St. Boniface include:
• Outside Stations — Friday, April 11, 7 p.m.
• Holy Thursday — Thursday, April 17, 7 p.m.
• Good Friday — Friday, April 18, 7 p.m.
• Holy Saturday Vigil —Saturday, April 19, 8 p.m.
• Easter Masses — Sunday, April 20, 9 a.m. and 11 a.m.

St. Boniface Catholic Church has a number of activities scheduled to celebrate the Easter season.

Embracing fellowship and building a community of support to nurture the values and spirituality of parish members and visitors alike is of utmost importance to the congregation at St. Boniface. Hosting the annual Knights of Columbus Fish Fry at the church each Friday night during Lent is just one way they exemplify this.

According to members, this is one of the best fish fries in the area, and it is always well attended by the parish and general public. It is also another great opportunity to meet new friends and socializewith old ones. The remaining Lenten Fish Fry nights in April will take place on April 4 and April 11 from 5 – 7:30 p.m. in the parish hall.

Father Vince Rosonke and the rest of the parish invite you to learn more about St. Boniface. You can visit their website at www.stbonifacechurch.org or call the church office at (515) 987-4597. If you would like to become a member, you can call to register for a newcomer reception meeting, held the second Sunday of the month after 10:30 a.m. Mass.
