A Packed House At the Ankeny Art Center

Posted March 24, 2014 in Ankeny, Community Web Exclusives

Thursday, March 20th the Ankeny Art Center hosted the North Polk K-12 art reception to celebrate young local artists. 275 families, students and members of the community attended this two hour event. Students’ kindergartens through 12th grade were selected by teachers and staff to exhibit in this show.  We would like to congratulate the young artists on their hard work and dedication to the arts.  At this year reception ceramic artist and educator Kathryn Riemersma demonstrated in the studio with clay and talked with students about making 3–D art work. This allowed visiting students and families the opportunity to learn, observe, and talk to an artist about working with clay.

“The North Polk community presented wonderful support for these young artists.”- Director Barbara Vaske.”

“I am so overjoyed with the experiences that North Polk students shared with staff and the community. I greatly enjoyed speaking with artists about their process.”- Assistant Director, Christina Catron.

The exhibit will be displayed at the Ankeny Art Center until March 29th.
