Gertrude Morgan, age 83, of Boone, died March 18, 2014, at the Ogden Manor in Ogden.

She has been cremated. A Memorial Service will be Monday, March 24, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. in the Community Room at the Cedar Crossing Apartments, 2003 Cedar Street in Boone. Burial of her cremains will be in the Boone Memorial Gardens at a later date.

Gertrude Louise Morgan was born in Grand Junction, Iowa, on January 4, 1931, the daughter of William and Edith (Wright) Reineman.

She attended school in Grand Junction and on January 23, 1952, Gertrude married James Morgan in Carroll.

She worked as a cook at the former Mondt’s Town House in Boone from the day it opened to the day it closed.

Gertrude enjoyed bingo, camping, and car rides.

She loved animals and she was noted for making great pies.

Gertrude also enjoyed watching soap operas and listening to country music.

Most important to her was spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Gertrude is survived by two sons David Morgan and wife Cheri of Ogden and Bill Morgan of Boone; two daughters Vicki York and husband Tom, and Margaret Thompson and husband Devon, all of Boone; a brother John Reineman and wife Carol of Jefferson; four sisters, Maria Stevens and husband Earl of Boone, Vivian Betts and Wilma Willet, both of Jefferson, and Mary Thorpe of Grand Junction; seven grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

Friends may call at the Cedar Crossing Community Room on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until service time.

In memory of Gertrude, memorials may be directed to the family to be distributed at a later date.

Schroeder Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall Streets is in charge of arrangements.
