Cornerstone Church in Ames has hosted several women’s retreats during the last few years, but this April the women’s ministry will provide an exceptional conference geared just toward women. From Thursday, April 3 to Saturday, April 5, the Intentional Women Conference will feature best-selling author Dannah Gresh. Gresh has written more than 20 best-selling books and is the founder of Pure Freedom Ministries, which encourages women to live pure lives outside of marriage.

Sarah Stevenson, who is the leader of the Cornerstone Church women’s ministry, says Gresh addresses the importance of sex and purity, and speaks to junior high and high school-aged girls in her Pure Freedom conferences.

“She’s really fun and funny,” Stevenson says. “She’s not harsh as far as trying to help a young woman understand what is best for them. She is a strong believer of forgiveness.”

Intentional College Women will kick off the three-day conference on the night of Thursday, April 3, in which Gresh will speak with the Salt Company Women to college students. Middle and high school girls, as well as their mothers, are invited to Friday night’s session titled Intentional Teen Night. Saturday will consist of a day-long workshop with breakout sessions for women of high school ages and older. More than 10 breakout sessions will be available.

Stevenson will present a session on dealing with difficult relationships.

“I feel it’s a need for women to learn,” Stevenson says. “I’ll be discussing tools on dealing with someone verbally abusive and establishing effective boundaries.”

The theme of women being intentional in their actions and choices is the goal behind each session.

“I think we, as followers of Christ, need to be intentional of learning and growing and living out our faith,” Stevenson says. “It doesn’t just happen; we have to be intentional.”

Stevenson says the conference is open for Cornerstone women and beyond. Because of Gresh’s national recognition, the ministry is expecting a large crowd and has seen interest from women all around the state as well as neighboring states.

The Intentional Women Conference will take place at Cornerstone Church at 56829 U.S. Highway 30. To register for the conference, visit the Cornerstone Church website at www.cornerstonelife.com.
