Ruby Bell Zeigler, 86, a resident of the Madrid Home Communities, formerly of Kanawha, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, March 2, 2014 after a brief illness at the Boone County Hospital in Boone. In agreement with her wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. A celebration of Ruby’s life will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, March 6, in the Sanborn Memorial Chapel at the Madrid Home, where the family will greet friends. An additional memorial service celebrating Ruby’s life is being planned for a later date in June of 2014, at Kanawha, Iowa. Following the service in June, committal services will take place at Kanawha Cemetery in Kanawha, IA.
Ruby was born on May 9, 1927, in Kanawha, Iowa, to Albert and Bessie (Carr) Berhow. She grew up in Kanawha and continued to live in the Kanawha/Goodell area. On October 25, 1942, Ruby married Arthur Zeigler.
She is survived and lovingly remembered by her son, Roger (Margaret) Zeigler; daughter, Carol Mallory; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
